St. Andrew's Autism School
At St. Andrew’s Autism School (SAAS) we believe that every child matters and every child can learn. Each child is thus individually assessed, with teaching and training aligned to individual needs.
SAAS also adopts a multi-disciplinary approach, where teachers work closely with one another and with educational psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and social workers, to provide quality education and training.
SAAS has adapted the Person-Centred Approach to planning meaningful Individual Educational Plans (IEP) of our students. We believe that an individual educational plan for each student is crucial to providing better intervention and learning programmes that would address their specific needs.
Interviews with parents and compulsory home visits are conducted to ascertain each student’s strengths, needs and appropriate learning goals for the short and longer term. Learning goals will be aligned to a customised curriculum, which is presently being developed from scratch.
Our Programme includes:
— Customised curriculum
— Functional numeracy and literacy
— Personal care and daily living skills
— Community-based learning
— Adaptive physical education
— Co-curricular activities
— Expressive arts
Eligible students who complete their education at SAAS are given the priority to transition to the DAC.
If you would like to find out more about the SAAS programme before applying for admission, you may register for one of three open houses that will be held each year. Visit this page on our website for the open house schedule for 2018 and to register.
