A school of excellence,
St. Andrew’s Autism School (SAAS) offers a comprehensive developmental curriculum in accord with evidence-based practices for students on the autism spectrum. Working together with our therapists, who provide intervention in attention, regulation and motor skills, and closely with our psychologists and social workers, we address our students’ sensory and regulatory needs, and guide, train and support family members and caregivers, in an effort to foster a conducive learning environment.
Adopting a person-centred approach to designing meaningful Individualised Education or Transition Plans (IEP/ITP) for each student enables us to provide effective interventions and instructional programmes referenced to a customised curriculum, where each student’s potential can be maximsed.
A core aspect of SAAS is our Personal Futures Planning. In line with Singapore’s SPED Framework vision, “Active in Community, Valued in Society”, from age 13 all SAAS students undergo a structured transition programme in preparation for their best post-18 outcomes.
SAAS’ customised curriculum emphasises social-emotional learning, communication, functional literacy and numeracy, and daily living and vocational skills. To enhance students’ holistic development, these learning domains are complemented by the expressive arts, adaptive physical education, and Co-curricular Activities (CCAs).
Our programme includes:
- Customised curricuum
- Functional numeracy and literacy
- Personal care and daily living skills
- Adaptive physical education
- Co-curricular Activities
- Expressive arts
Eligible students who complete their education at SAAS are given the priority to transition to the DAC.
